REVrant 33.4 - Stay Away from "Swivets"
I love words. I love reading words. I love writing words. I love learning new words. To help me learn some new words in 2008, Jan gave me a daily calendar that has a new word for each day. Today’s word made me chuckle. One, because of how it sounds. Two, because I regularly encounter people (including Christians) who are in one of these!

To my Christian friends…the Bible makes it clear that we’re not supposed to be in a “swivet” about anything. Philippians 4:6 comes to mind – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Or how about Matthew 6:25 – “Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more than clothes?” Or how about Matthew 6:34 – “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”
I’m looking forward to a “swivet-free” 2008! How about you?
oooh, fun word....i am going to use that. Have you ever heard of hippopotomonstrosesquippedaliophobia?

Hey Milehighrev,
I think it is called that because when you are in one, you feel like your head is going to swivel around and around on your neck until it explodes.
That's just my observation.
