REVrant 37.2 - The Church of Oprah
Most pastors are well aware of the prominent role Oprah Winfrey has assumed in this first decade of the 21st Century – “America’s spiritual guide!” In addition to being one of America’s most influential and among our wealthiest citizens, Oprah is the source of inspiration and spiritual direction for millions.

I found the linked column (Hat tip: Ray Pritchard) while browsing today, and it is such an apt analysis, I wanted you to be able to access it directly. Oprah has not only hooked up with Marianne Williamson in the New “Age-y” “Course in Miracles” on her XM satellite program, she has also connected with Eckhart Tolle - a guru of Hinduism, Buddhism, and a form of “watered-down Christianity.”
Here’s what you get from Tolle – heartily endorsed by Oprah:
1. “All is one and one is all”….which leads to “God is all and all is God”….which leads to “I am God.”
2. Since most people don’t realize they are god, they need to be enlightened.
3. Everything is relative. “The truth” is simply within you – YOU are the truth.
4. Reincarnation.
Bottom line – If Oprah is America’s “spiritual guide,” and if this is the content of her message, and if America is planning to embrace this messenger and her message, then America is in big trouble.
All I can say is...SCARY!! I guess I have one more thing to say - I sure wish she would use her influence for good.

MHR...And, from my experience, the Christian publishing community is too scared of her to take her on. Sad.
