REVrant 37.3 - "Church attack doesn't materialize" - Thank God!
Church attack doesn't materialize - The Denver Post.
This morning when Jan and I woke up, we turned on the TV, as usual, to check weather and check on any breaking news for the day. The very first item we saw on a local news channel was about a church in our region that had received a “vague threat” about shootings that were allegedly going to occur today in that church and others, and the person making the threat apparently used the phrase, “It will be a bloodbath.”
As you will read in the linked Denver Post article, thankfully, nothing materialized today.
In our post-Columbine, post-9/11, post-YWAM shootings, post-New Life Church shooting environment, we take threats like this seriously. Several of our law enforcement members were on alert today during services, with one officer in particular prepared to respond instantly with appropriate force if events required it. I won’t divulge any further security plans here for obvious reasons. We have added video surveillance since the YWAM and New Life shootings and have a sign posted at our property entrance informing people. Who would have thought?
While my ultimate confidence for protection is in the Lord, I am also grateful for members of the FBC family who are willing to be vigilant and on guard during these dark days. I’m also thankful that the threats did not materialize in any of our metro area churches today.
