REVrant 37.7 - Pastors and Politics
McCain rejects Hagee endorsement - CNN.com.

I’ve said it over and over. Pastors need to stick to their calling – which is NOT to endorse political candidates – but to point people to Jesus!
The recent spat between Senator John McCain and Rev. John Hagee demonstrates my point perfectly! It makes McCain look bad, it makes Hagee look worse, and it makes a mockery of the pastoral calling…once again.
Pastors, please stop endorsing candidates for political office.

You have a much higher calling!
I think the greater problem is that the only pastors that endorse are those who seek the limelight themselves.
If they truly sought a convicted individual to endorse, they would certainly not endorse Senator McCain.
The greater calling that you speak of includes a vow to not seek out earthly callings yet these endorsements seem to consistently be more about them being able to flex their muscle than to advance Christian values.
Senator McCain believes he needs the endorsements to be elected. He feels this is a necessity, it is not a desire of his to seek these endorsements as reinforcement of his views.
To place God in the middle of an election and to imply that a mere pastor could possibly know which candidate He would endorse is laughable considering the dishonesty that is so regularly displayed by all candidates.
If we teach our children Christian values, they will elect moral leaders. This is the movement that needs to be endorsed.
