REVrant 38.6 - Loss of Shame As California Legalizes Gay Marriage
Wedding bells chime for California same-sex couples - CNN.com.
Just looking at the photo (warning – it’s shocking) in the linked column of an 87 and 84 year-old woman kissing each other brought deep sadness to my heart. The State of California has decided to affirm marriage between same-sex couples. Today, as they began to issue licenses, homosexual couples lined up for hours outside of county clerk’s offices to obtain documents that will permit them to marry. I fear that this shameful pursuit is a bellwether for things to come in the U.S. The loss of shame over such behavior echoes from both coasts (Massachusetts to California) across the heartland of our nation.
This photo is no less shameful, but seems prophetic for the future of marriage in the U.S.
“Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do.”
What a confused world we live in. On one hand, there is public dismay over the decay of society; that children don't show respect, that violence permeates our culture, that the marriages don't survive. On the other hand, our culture not only tolerates, but celebrates, the postmodern philosophy that anything goes. The legalization of gay marriage is just another step down the postmodern path, without any boundaries. Our civilization reminds me far too much of ancient Rome, and I fear the consequences of its decay. Thank you, MHR, for standing firm.
